Five months before the musical festival descends on the Del Mar Racetrack, KAABOO will release their full music line up tomorrow, on April 26. So far a few of the musical guests are Jack Johnson, The Avett Brothers, Goo Goo Dolls and Gavin DeGraw (the only one I want to see so far is The Avett Brothers). But if they are using last year as a guide, there will be at least 100 musical acts on 7 stages over 3 days.
In anticipation of the announcement, I thought it might be fun to set some of my own predictions.
Points of interest to consider:
- KAABOO is sold as the “anti Coachella” with better food, drinks and bathrooms.
- The musical festival markets to a “more mature” crowd and bands tend to reflect that demographic (last year Counting Crows, Sheryl Crow, Bonnie Raitt and No Doubt played)
- The summer festival circuit is a real one. Bands are known to hit several per year so checking out other festival line ups helps determine who to expect in Del Mar.
- There are always some surprises and bands I have never heard of…this leaves room for new discoveries and a chance for bands to get new fans.

Florence and The Machine
Sufjan Stevens
