New Music Monday: Nathaniel Rateliff and the Night Sweats, "Howling At Nothing"

Writer's picture: Bridget BuckleyBridget Buckley

A folk singer songwriter with acoustic beginnings, Nathaniel Rateliff has transformed into a rhythm and blues singing master with electric guitars and full backing band (Night Sweats). Previously attached to the likes of the Mumford clan and Communion Records (co founded by Mumford member Ben Lovett), Rateliff oozes a genuine type of cool that is infectious.

The original albums are beautifully written but it’s like his voice has been waiting to sing these soulful riffs his whole career. It’s the type of music that makes you want to dance with a partner and in some of the more upbeat tunes, put together your best Otis Redding or James Brown impression.
