U2 at The Roxy

There must be something going on with rock bands these days. Foo Fighters played a small stage at a town fair, The Rolling Stones played The Fonda Theater for $5 a ticket, and last night U2 played The Roxy on the Sunset Strip.

It appears that all these huge stadium size bands like to go back to their club roots and actually interact with fans. And why not? Music sounds different with fans right up next to you. There is a sense of urgency when there is nothing to hide behind. Plus, I bet it makes the bands a little nervous, which is part of the thrill.
