How To Dismantle an Atomic Bomb (2004)
“Vertigo”
Where we learn Bono can’t count in Spanish and discover the best U2 song to run to.
Written for Bono’s Dad who had passed away. Watching him performing it live almost makes you feel like you are intruding on a son’s lamenting prayer to his Dad.
“Oh-you-look-so-beaaauuuuti-fulllll to-night”…needs to be in every U2 show forever just so I can throw my hands into the air at each syllable of the chorus.
“Yahweh”
Paired with “40” during the Vertigo tour, they sang these two songs back to back to finish out the show. There really can’t be two more overtly Christian, worship pairing, rock songs ever. Yahweh is the Hebrew name for God and it’s ridiculous to think people don’t realize from whom (and for whom) they sing.
